Nestled in the heart of Kenya’s Central Highlands, the Mount Kenya region is renowned for some of the worlds most exceptional coffee with ideal growing conditions for Arabica beans (1400 to 2000 meters above sea level). The region boasts a unique flavour profile with coffee celebrated for its distinctive citrus, blackcurrant and flora notes, offering a vibrant and aromatic cup. Mount Kenya Coffee was a concept born to celebrate the perfect growing conditions for coffee cultivation bringing vibrant flavours to your cup.

 

Founded by Nyokabi Kuguru, Mount Kenya Coffee draws inspiration from her heritage and childhood on her family farm to unite Australian roasters and coffee lovers with the best coffee from Kenya. The brand highlights the rich flavours and quality of Kenyan coffee, inviting you to savour a taste of the bursting flavours of the Mount Kenya Region and beyond.

Our coffee is celebrated for its unique flavour profile—think citrus, blackcurrant, and floral notes—offering a vibrant and aromatic experience in every cup.

MEET THE FOUNDER

Mount Kenya Coffee was founded by Nyokabi Kuguru, a passionate entrepreneur from Nyeri, Kenya. Inspired by her childhood on her family’s coffee farm, Nyokabi created a brand that celebrates the rich flavours and exceptional quality of Kenyan coffee. Through Mount Kenya Coffee, she invites you to experience unique flavour profiles that reflect her heritage and the vibrant spirit of the region.

Nyokabi’s connection to coffee runs deep. Her grandfather, Ngibuini Kuguru, was among the first Kenyans permitted to farm coffee after independence in the 1960s, breaking colonial restrictions on local cultivation. He introduced and encouraged coffee production in his home region and was a founding member of the local cooperative, now one of the highest performing coffee producers in Kenya. 

Nyokabi spent her childhood wandering the estate, fostering her appreciation for farming and the natural world as she learned about the various crop and their uses for nutrition, medicine, and sustainability.
